Three Arrested in Brampton Auto Theft Investigation

Peel police recover stolen vehicles with fake plates

by Sophia Bennett

BRAMPTON, Ont. — Peel police have charged three people following the recovery of three stolen vehicles in an investigation into an alleged organized auto crime group.

The Commercial Auto Crime Bureau began probing the operation in December, alleging the group was involved in stealing cars, tractor-trailers, and committing auto-related fraud.

On Thursday, officers executed a search warrant at a Brampton residence. Police reported recovering three previously reported stolen vehicles, all fitted with fraudulent Ontario licence plates.

The suspects, Amritpal Khattra, 28, Gurtas Bhullar, 33, and Mandeep Kaur, 32, all residents of Brampton, face multiple charges. Khattra and Bhullar were held pending a bail hearing, while Kaur was released on an undertaking with conditions.

Police also noted that at the time of their arrests, Khattra and Bhullar were already on court-imposed release orders related to previous property offences.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be laid as more information becomes available.
