Harare, Zimbabwe – Three individuals, Liberty Munyaradzi (34), Clementine Sikoti (39), and Itai Ndlovu (43), were arraigned before Harare magistrate Apollonia Marutya on charges of stealing 5,000 litres of diesel from the Feruka pipeline.
The complaint was filed by Petrozim Line, a subsidiary of the National Oil Infrastructure Company of Zimbabwe (Noczim), and was represented by Elton Mangombe, the company’s risk and loss control officer. Magistrate Marutya postponed the matter to Friday for bail application.
According to Prosecutor Rufaro Chonzi, on November 17, 2024, Munyaradzi, Sikoti, and Ndlovu, along with two other individuals, Clementine Sikoto and Tawanda (who are still at large), allegedly blew a hole in the Feruka pipeline near Diggleford Primary School in Marondera. The group installed a valve, siphoned off 5,000 litres of diesel, and transferred the fuel into plastic containers before driving away.
The incident was detected by Noczim’s control room, which immediately alerted a reaction team. Some of the suspects were apprehended at the scene, while others fled.
The suspects are facing serious charges, and their bail application will be heard on Friday.
