Vellore North Police have arrested three youths for the murder of S. Venkatesan, 55, a private company staff member from Velapadi in Vellore’s Old Town. The incident occurred after Venkatesan objected to the trio’s rash driving a few days ago, leading to a fatal altercation.
The arrested individuals were identified as K. Prakash, 20, V. Ajith, 20, and Jawahar, 26, all residents of Thottapalayam under Vellore Corporation limits. According to the police, the incident occurred when Venkatesan was riding his two-wheeler on Filter Bed Road. As the trio sped past him, Venkatesan lost control of his vehicle and fell. An argument ensued, and the youths reportedly pushed Venkatesan down, causing him to lose consciousness.
Bystanders and passing motorists rushed Venkatesan to the Government Pentland Hospital, but doctors declared him dead shortly after arrival. Following the incident, the Vellore North Police launched an investigation and quickly arrested the three youths involved.
The police have filed a case of murder, and further investigations are underway.
