In a major breakthrough, Mohali police have arrested three individuals, including a woman, involved in running a drug racket in the Mataur area. The police seized 76.6g of heroin and Rs17,700 in drug money from the accused.
Kuldeep Singh, Kiranpreet Kaur, and Sajanpreet were arrested during a raid on a paying guest (PG) accommodation in Mataur. The operation, led by Inspector Kulwant Singh, was based on a tip-off about drug distribution activities at the location.
The accused, all related, were operating as a gang involved in drug trafficking in the region. Kuldeep Singh has a prior criminal record, including two cases under the NDPS Act registered in Tarn Taran.
Following the initial arrests of Kuldeep Singh and Kiranpreet Kaur, police tracked their accomplice, Sajanpreet, to Shivalik City, Landran Road, and arrested him. During the operation, the police also rescued a drug addict connected to the gang, who has been sent to a government-approved rehabilitation center in Sector 66, Mohali.
The trio has been remanded to police custody, and investigations are continuing.
