A special police team shot 25-year-old Muneeswaran, the prime accused in a double murder case, after he reportedly tried to attack two police personnel during his arrest early on March 6, 2025, in Thoothukudi district.
Muneeswaran is accused of murdering a mother-daughter duo — P. Seethalakshmi (70) and V. Ramajayanthi (48) — from Melanabipuram on March 3, 2025. During the arrest attempt, the suspect resisted and attacked the officers, prompting the police to shoot him below the knee to subdue him.
Police officials confirmed the incident and said Muneeswaran has been taken into custody for further investigation.
