Thomas Leimkuehler Faces Serious Charges in Animal Cruelty Case

Warren man pleads not guilty to felony cruelty after dog found neglected

by Sophia Bennett

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Thomas Leimkuehler, 43, from Warren, is facing more serious charges in an animal cruelty case that has been described as the “worst case of neglect” by one advocate. Leimkuehler was arraigned Tuesday morning in Warren Municipal Court, where he pleaded not guilty to violating prohibitions concerning companion animals, a fifth-degree felony.

The charges stem from an incident on Saturday, when a dog was discovered chained in the basement of Leimkuehler’s home on Oak Knoll Avenue. The animal, in poor condition, was rescued by the Healthy Hearts and Paws Project but ultimately had to be euthanized due to the extent of its neglect.

Another court hearing is scheduled for June 12.
