On April 30, 2025, the K.K. Nagar police arrested 27-year-old Thangam for allegedly murdering fellow auto driver M. Vijayakanth following a heated quarrel.
The victim, M. Vijayakanth, 33, was a resident of M.G.R. Nagar and originally from Sivagangai district. He worked as a share auto driver. On the night of April 28, Vijayakanth was sitting in his auto, chatting with friends, when Thangam, a person he knew, approached and an argument ensued.
In a fit of anger, Thangam physically attacked Vijayakanth, causing severe injuries. Despite attempts to assist him, Vijayakanth succumbed to his injuries. The police quickly initiated an investigation, leading to the arrest of Thangam on charges of murder.
