Police in Pattaya arrested a 20-year-old man named Thanawat on August 31 for stealing a motorcycle in Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri. The black Honda Wave 125, belonging to Chalermphon, was taken from a motorcycle taxi queue in Soi Pattaya Klang 12.
Security footage showed Thanawat riding a white motorcycle past the taxi queue. Noticing an unattended bike with the key still inside, he parked near a snooker table before returning to steal the vehicle. After Chalermphon reported the theft to Pattaya City Police Station, officers set a trap near the snooker table, anticipating Thanawat’s return.
When Thanawat came back, the stolen motorcycle had already been seized by police. Attempting to flee, he was pursued and apprehended by Chalermphon’s friends and a bystander.
During his transport to the police station, a friend identified only as “A” followed Thanawat on a motorcycle, expressing disappointment and throwing objects at him. A stated that Thanawat had previously struggled with drug addiction and had received help from friends, but his recent actions complicated the situation, including affecting another friend who had provided accommodation and was also detained.
In a related incident, a foreign man was arrested for motorbike theft near Pattaya’s Walking Street on August 28. The suspect appeared to be under the influence of drugs, according to eyewitnesses.
