SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Terence Trent Vos, a known gang member once labeled Public Enemy No. 1 by the Metro Gang Unit, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the brutal murder of his girlfriend, Shandon Scott, a mother of two.
On May 1, 2021, officers responded to a reported crash on I-80 in Salt Lake County. Witnesses found Scott in the passenger seat, covered in blood, with 12 gunshot wounds that created 43 bullet holes due to re-entry patterns. Vos attempted to steal the witness’s vehicle but fled the scene on foot.
Initially, Vos claimed someone else had shot Scott. However, during a recorded jail call, he confessed to killing her following an argument.
On March 20, 2025, Vos was convicted of the following:
Aggravated murder (first-degree felony)
Three counts of discharging a firearm causing serious bodily injury
Possession of a firearm by a restricted person
Obstructing justice
Failure to stop at a law officer’s command
On sentencing day, Vos received life without parole for murder. He also received multiple terms of five years to life for firearm offenses and obstruction charges. These sentences will run concurrently, but consecutive to other previous convictions.
During sentencing, Scott’s family delivered emotional impact statements. Her daughter, speaking on behalf of her younger brother, said:
“You were supposed to love her. You were supposed to protect her.”
Vos appeared to cry in court, but prosecutors dismissed it as insincere. Prosecutor Morgan Vedejs called them “crocodile tears,” while Vos made excuses, blaming the victim and accusing the judge of bias.
Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill said:
“The streets of Salt Lake County will be safer now that this violent habitual offender is behind bars for the rest of his life.”
