The Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB) arrested five individuals involved in the illegal manufacture and transport of alprazolam and other chemicals in Nirmal district.
Authorities seized a total of 425 kg of chloral hydrate and 1.1 kg of alprazolam, estimated to be worth Rs52 lakh. The accused were identified as B Rama Goud from Nizamabad, and Ramesh, K Rajam, E Srinivas, and B Rajasekhar from Karimnagar.
Police investigations revealed that the gang manufactured these drugs in Nimbavali, located in Thane district, Maharashtra.
With the assistance of Rajam, Rama Goud rented a secluded room near Nimbavali to produce drugs aimed at toddy shops, where the chemicals were used to create spurious toddy.
On June 19, the accused were caught transporting 17 bags of contraband loaded into two cars. Police arrested them during this operation.
