Manchester, Ga. (WTVM) — A 17-year-old has been charged with murder in connection to the December 2023 shooting death of Manchester High School student Brandon Smith, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

Qua’vion Jakwon Cooper, 17, was arrested with assistance from the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office and is charged with murder as a party to the crime.

The GBI says that during the investigation, evidence revealed that Cooper aided and abetted the alleged shooter, A’darious Williams, during a fatal altercation on December 7, 2023, in Manchester, Georgia. Authorities believe the shooting followed an argument involving the individuals.

Brandon Smith, also 17, was a student at Manchester High School and died from his injuries in the shooting.

Cooper has been booked into the Meriwether County Jail, and the investigation remains ongoing.
