MOBILE, Ala. — A 28-year-old man is behind bars at the Mobile County Metro Jail after allegedly robbing and assaulting a man in downtown Mobile early Sunday morning, then fleeing in a stolen vehicle, police said.
The suspect, Tederick Mack Jr., faces multiple charges including first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, reckless driving, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment, and driving with an open beverage. He also had outstanding warrants related to no child restraint, no driver’s license, and probation revocation.
According to the Mobile Police Department, the incident occurred shortly after 2 a.m. in the 300 block of Conti Street, when a man approached officers and reported he had been robbed and pistol-whipped, sustaining a laceration above his right eye. He was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Investigators later identified Mack as the suspect who assaulted the victim and stole his vehicle. The Prichard Police Department recovered the vehicle and arrested Mack shortly after.
Mack remains in custody as the investigation continues.
