CRANSTON, R.I. — Police in Cranston announced the arrests of three men in separate drug investigations that uncovered large quantities of illegal substances, cash, and even stolen property.
In the first case, officers pulled over a vehicle near Park and Reservoir Avenues for a seatbelt violation Thursday morning. A K-9 search revealed cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, and a large amount of cash stored in a hidden electronic compartment. The drugs were valued at approximately $385,000. The driver, Teddy Lopez, 21, was taken into custody and now faces multiple drug charges.
In the second case, detectives executed a search warrant at a homeless encampment off Plainfield Pike on March 19. Inside a tent, police found crack cocaine, crystal meth, drug packaging materials, two BB guns, a knife, $443 in cash, and 30 stolen shopping carts. Donald Iasimone, 40, was arrested and charged with drug, weapons, and receiving stolen goods offenses.
The third case unfolded on Cutting Avenue, where Cranston police and DEA agents served a search warrant Thursday. They seized 2,500 pressed fentanyl pills, 16 grams of fentanyl powder, methamphetamine pills, psilocybin mushrooms, and other drug-related items. Jerry Taylor, 27, was arrested and faces drug possession charges.
All three investigations remain ongoing.
