RANDOLPH COUNTY — Christopher John Tuft, a 44-year-old Trinity man and educator, was arrested Friday on charges related to child pornography, the multi-county Invictus Task Force announced.
The investigation began after a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Task force members executed a search warrant on Friday, leading to Tuft’s arrest.
Tuft faces a charge of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, accused of distributing a video depicting a teenage boy engaging in sexual acts with a younger boy, according to his arrest warrant.
He is currently held on a secured bond of $75,000.
Tuft has been employed as an exceptional children’s teacher at Simkins Elementary School in Greensboro but was suspended following his arrest, according to Guilford County Schools.
Previously, Tuft served as an assistant principal and principal within Asheboro City Schools.
The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office’s Invictus Task Force.
