BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Birmingham Police Department detectives have obtained arrest warrants for Taylor Ball, 24, and Anthony Lewis Sr., 35, both of Birmingham, in connection with a shooting investigation that began on March 20, 2025, in the 800 Block of 3rd Avenue West.
The incident occurred around 2:55 a.m., when officers from the North and West Precincts responded to reports of a male victim who had been shot in the area. The victim sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a medical facility.
Following an investigation by detectives from the BPD’s Felony Assault Unit, Ball and Lewis were identified as the suspects involved in the shooting. The detectives presented the case information to the Jefferson County Magistrate’s Office, which issued arrest warrants for both suspects.
Taylor Ball faces the following charges:
Robbery in the first degree
Certain person forbidden to possess a pistol
Criminal mischief in the second degree
Anthony Lewis is facing more severe charges:
Attempted murder
Robbery in the first degree
Discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle
Certain person forbidden to possess a pistol
Criminal mischief in the second degree
Both suspects were apprehended by officers from the Special Enforcement Team and Tactical Unit. They are currently being held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
The investigation is ongoing, and the Birmingham Police Department is continuing to work on the case.
