Eastfield, Scarborough (April 24, 2025) — Tarik Adam Mehmet Turan, known as ‘Dr T,’ was sentenced today at York Crown Court to 10 years and 6 months in prison for his role in supplying illegal drugs over the course of a year. Turan, a 36-year-old from Scarborough, had established a widespread illicit online pharmacy that provided customers across the UK with prescription and recreational drugs.

Operating under the alias “Dr T,” Turan facilitated the sale of a variety of controlled substances, including diazepam and cocaine, through a WhatsApp group called ‘UK Pharmacy 2U.’ The group allowed individuals to place orders for drugs, which Turan would then arrange for delivery, acting as a middleman and never directly handling the drugs. His customers paid via various methods, and he provided “advice” on drug use, despite having no medical qualifications.

Turan’s criminal activities were uncovered after a series of arrests of individuals who had purchased from him. Authorities seized mobile phones, revealing the full extent of his operation. Turan was arrested near his home on May 11, 2023, and his phone contained messages detailing transactions from Scotland to the South Coast of England. He was charged in April 2024 with 33 offenses related to drug supply and possession of criminal property.

The investigation revealed that Turan’s business generated profits from illegal drug sales, including prescription medication that should only be prescribed by licensed professionals. His activities contributed to the rising problem of illegal drug use in the UK, which has been linked to a significant number of drug-related deaths.

DC Darrel Temple of Scarborough CID, who led the investigation, emphasized the importance of the sentence. “This conviction sends a clear message that drug dealing, whether online or in person, will not be tolerated. Turan’s actions fueled a serious public health issue, and he now faces the consequences of his actions,” said Temple.

Turan’s sentence serves as a reminder of the dangers of online drug trafficking, which can have devastating impacts on public health. Authorities hope this conviction will deter others from attempting to operate similar illegal enterprises.
