Tara Cottrill and Kyle Hall Arrested for Burglary at Peabody Mine Site

Duo faces multiple charges after burglaries at former coal mine property

MT. CARMEL, Ill. (WFIE) – Two individuals were arrested in Wabash County following burglaries at the former Peabody coal mine property in Mount Carmel.

On Wednesday morning, deputies received a report of a possible trespasser at the site. Upon arrival, they discovered 46-year-old Tara Cottrill in her car behind a locked gate. Authorities found evidence of theft and damage at the property.

Later that afternoon, deputies were alerted to a man, identified as 30-year-old Kyle Hall, walking away from the area toward Keensburg.

Cottrill faces the following charges:

Possession of Methamphetamine
Burglary
Possession of Burglary Tools
Theft (more than $500 but less than $10k)
Criminal Damage to Property
Criminal Trespass to Real Property
Hall has been charged with:

Burglary
Possession of Burglary Tools
Theft (more than $500 but less than $10k)
Criminal Damage to Property
Criminal Trespass to Real Property
Both individuals are being held as investigations continue into the case.
