Tanner Woman Arrested for Theft at Belk Store in Decatur

Malinda Williams, 48, faces second-degree retail theft charges after investigation into November 2024 incident

DECATUR, Ala. (March 21, 2025) – A Tanner woman, Malinda Williams, was arrested on Wednesday after being identified as a suspect in a retail theft that occurred last year at the Belk store in Decatur.

According to the Decatur Police Department (DPD), officers responded to a theft call on November 22, 2024, when it was reported that an individual had left the store without paying for merchandise valued at over $500.

Following an investigation, Williams, 48, was identified as the suspect in the theft, leading to a warrant being issued for her arrest.

Williams was arrested on Wednesday and charged with second-degree retail theft. She was booked into the Morgan County Jail, where she is currently being held on a $2,500 bond.
