In a shocking incident from Pethshirur village, Chittapur taluk, a gang of four young men brutally murdered 78-year-old Jagadevi and stole her gold and cash. The Kalaburagi police successfully solved the case and apprehended all four suspects: Tanaji (25), Vijaykumar (23), Lakshman (24), and Sanjeevkumar (24), all residents of the same village.
The accused had planned the crime after learning about Jagadevi’s valuable possessions. According to Kalaburagi SP Aduru Srinivasulu, the group had attempted the murder twice before but failed. On July 10, they finally carried out their plan, entering Jagadevi’s home through the back door. They strangled her to death and staged the scene to look like a natural death before fleeing with her valuables.
Forensic evidence and technical analysis revealed the truth behind the death, leading police to arrest the accused and recover gold ornaments and ₹5,500 in cash. Further interrogation exposed the gang’s intention to target another elderly woman in the village, but police intervened before the crime could be committed.
