Tammie Lynn Bowen Arrested for Possession of Contraband After Traffic Stop in Prentiss County

Welfare check and traffic stop lead to felony drug charge

by Amelia Crawford

BOONEVILLE, MS — A routine traffic stop and subsequent welfare check led to felony drug charges for Tammie Lynn Bowen, 41, of County Road 7301.

On May 1, a deputy with the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle for no tag and improper equipment on Highway 4 west, near County Road 7301. The driver was arrested on multiple misdemeanor charges and transported to the Prentiss County Jail.

However, as Bowen was being booked into the facility, jail staff reportedly discovered methamphetamine on her person. This led to an additional charge of possession of contraband inside a correctional facility, a felony offense.

Bowen was taken into custody and is facing serious legal consequences.

Authorities continue to investigate, with the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Office urging anyone with information on drug activity to come forward.
