Shreveport, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A second woman suspected of bank fraud has been arrested, the Shreveport Police Department announced.

Takya White, 28, was arrested late Monday for her role in a scheme that defrauded local businesses and organizations by depositing fake checks. White’s arrest follows that of Shunya Hines, who was taken into custody in November and booked into the Caddo Correctional Center.

According to SPD investigators, White and Hines were part of an “extensive fraud scheme” involving the business bank account of Christ Lutheran Church in Shreveport. Authorities believe the two women wrote and cashed fraudulent checks between September 18 and 21, totaling more than $11,000.

Additionally, the suspects are accused of fraudulently withdrawing $13,724.65 from the church’s account without authorization.

White now faces two counts of bank fraud, with her bond set at $50,000 for one count and $20,000 for the second.
