MILTON, Del. — Delaware State Police have arrested 22-year-old Tahrie Calloway of Claymont following a fatal hit-and-run crash on the morning of July 26, 2025.
The incident happened around 7:39 a.m. on Sand Hill Road near Burton Road, where Calloway’s 2017 Honda Accord struck a 67-year-old Milford man riding his bicycle along the eastern edge of the roadway.
The impact threw the bicyclist into a grassy area. Despite the severity of the collision, Calloway did not stop and fled the scene. Emergency responders transported the injured cyclist to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of family.
Delaware State Police located the damaged Honda about one mile from the crash site after EMS personnel found the disabled vehicle. Investigators confirmed the vehicle’s damage was consistent with the fatal collision.
Calloway was taken into custody without incident and exhibited signs of impairment, with officers detecting the smell of alcohol. He faces multiple charges including Second-Degree Vehicular Homicide, Leaving the Scene of a Collision Resulting in Death, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Driving Under the Influence, and Inattentive Driving.
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on an $18,101 cash bond.
