AUSTIN, Texas — A man is in federal custody after authorities say he robbed a North Austin credit union last week.

Syntedrick Brown, 42, is accused of entering the Austin Telco Federal Credit Union at 12188 Jollyville Road around 10:09 a.m. on Jan. 28. Police allege Brown threatened employees with a firearm and demanded money before fleeing with what investigators described as a large amount of cash.

According to police, Brown attempted to disguise himself during the robbery by wearing a black wig, ski goggles, a black face mask, and a yellow reflective vest.

The Austin Police Department worked with the FBI to identify Brown as a suspect. By Saturday morning, investigators said they had gathered enough evidence to file formal charges.

Authorities executed a search warrant at Brown’s home on Monday, where they recovered a large portion of the stolen money, police said.

Brown was arrested and remains in federal custody as the case proceeds.
