In a significant breakthrough, the Vidyaranyapura Police have arrested notorious thief Syed Aslam Pasha, who had been evading law enforcement for years while committing thefts across multiple districts, including Bengaluru City, Bengaluru Rural, Shivamogga, Haveri, and Davanagere. The accused is reportedly involved in nearly 150 theft cases, making him one of the most wanted criminals in the region.
Police officials said Pasha was known for his meticulous planning and dangerous methods. During the daytime, he would survey upscale residential areas, closely observing households, routines, and entry points. Once night fell, he would carry out thefts with precision and speed.
In several incidents, Pasha allegedly targeted sleeping women, silently snatching gold chains through open windows before vanishing unnoticed. In other cases, he broke window panes near main doors, unlocked them from inside, and entered homes without alerting occupants.
Investigators revealed that Pasha carefully selected his targets. Houses where milk packets or newspapers remained unattended for long hours, doors stayed locked for extended periods, or lights were switched off were marked as ideal. Homes with gates locked from the outside were also preferred targets.
After committing thefts, Pasha reportedly led a lavish lifestyle, spending the stolen money freely. To evade arrest, he followed a strict rule of never returning to the same locality for at least a year, allowing police investigations to lose momentum before he resurfaced in a different area. His arrest has brought relief to residents and police officials who had been tracking him for years.
