In a significant development on Wednesday, two monks from the Vadtal Swaminarayan sect, along with their accomplice, were sent on a one-day remand by the Ahmedabad rural court for further investigation into a fraud case. The arrested individuals include Jaykrushnadas Guru Shri Niwasdas, also known as J K Swami, and Vijayprakashdas Guru Swami Mohanprakashdasji, or V P Swami, along with Suresh Dhori, an associate.
The remand was sought by the CID (Criminal Investigation Department) as part of their probe into the fraudulent activities surrounding a Rs1.76 crore scam. The monks are accused of deceiving farmers and landowners by falsely promising the construction of a temple and a cow shelter in Limb village, Bayad. The case involves a conspiracy to misappropriate funds under the pretense of purchasing land for the temple project.
The CID has already charged four monks, along with a farmer and four others, in connection with the scam. They are investigating whether more individuals were involved or helped shelter the accused after the fraud was uncovered.
According to the complaint filed, the monks collaborated with individuals involved in land dealings in Ahmedabad to defraud the complainant. These individuals solicited substantial investments from farmers, under the guise of purchasing land for a temple and cow shelter, which ultimately turned out to be a fraudulent scheme.
The CID Crime Unit continues to delve deeper into the case to identify any further suspects or connections in the scam.
