ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. — Kayne Lavance Alford-Bruce, 21, of Hickory, was arrested Friday, September 12, by Alexander County Sheriff’s Officers. He faces 31 charges, including 17 counts of breaking and entering into motor vehicles, seven counts of larceny, three counts each of attempted breaking and entering into motor vehicles and larceny of firearms, as well as one count of motor vehicle theft.
Since May 2025, authorities have been investigating a group suspected of numerous vehicle break-ins across the Bethlehem area. On the night of September 11, a concerned resident reported a suspicious person looking into vehicles on Bowmans Court in Bethlehem. Deputies responded and located Alford-Bruce in the Wittenburg Springs Development, where he was arrested.
Investigators believe the group is linked to vehicle break-ins spanning multiple jurisdictions, including Caldwell, Burke, and Catawba counties, as well as the City of Hickory and Town of Long View.
Alford-Bruce was held at the Alexander County Detention Center on a secured bond of $350,000. He is scheduled for a District Court appearance on September 15. The investigation continues, and further charges are expected.
