Kodagu police have arrested two men in connection with a theft at eight houses in the police quarters of Madikeri city. The accused, identified as Suresh Sengar (23) and Manish Bhagel (27), both from Madhya Pradesh, were arrested on August 17 after a month-long investigation.
The theft was first reported on June 17, when multiple homes within the police quarters were found burgled. The case sparked urgency as the victims were serving law enforcement officers.
Extensive Investigation Across States
Superintendent of Police K Ramarajan confirmed that a special team was assigned to track down the culprits. The team covered over 700 kilometers, spanning Hassan, Goa, and Madhya Pradesh, reviewing more than 500 CCTV cameras during their probe.
Their persistence paid off when Suresh and Manish were located and arrested in Dhar district, MP. The investigation revealed that Manish Bhagel has a long criminal record, with over 25 cases lodged against him across different police stations.

From the arrested duo, police recovered:
Rs50,480 in cash
Nine mobile phones
An iron rod
A bolt cutter
Other burglary-related tools
Two more suspects from Madhya Pradesh are yet to be apprehended. The police are continuing their efforts to bring all involved individuals to justice.
