On Wednesday afternoon, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam conducted a successful raid in the Panbazar area under the jurisdiction of the Panbazar Police Station. The operation resulted in the arrest of a suspected drug peddler, Suresh Prasad (21), who was caught with contraband substances.

Prasad, a resident of 2 No. Rail Gate, Panbazar, Kamrup (M), was found in possession of 19 vials containing suspected heroin, amounting to a total of 25.4 grams. Additionally, the authorities seized a sum of Rs. 190 in cash from the suspect, raising further concerns about his involvement in drug trafficking activities.

Suresh Prasad’s permanent address has been traced to Ghorialdubi village, under the jurisdiction of Bokajan Police Station in Karbi-Anglong district. He was arrested during the raid conducted by the STF, which is known for its continuous efforts to combat the rising drug trade in the region.

The police have initiated legal action against Prasad, and the investigation is ongoing. The seizure of the drugs adds to the STF’s recent successes in curbing the flow of narcotics within the state.

As part of the ongoing campaign against drug trafficking, the STF continues its vigilance in tackling illegal drug distribution networks operating across Assam.
