Shimla, Himachal Pradesh: The Shimla district police arrested the main accused within 24 hours in a suspected murder case reported from the Theog subdivision.
The incident surfaced on February 28, 2026, in Village Jarai, under Post Office Devgarh in Tehsil Theog. An FIR was registered at Police Station Theog under Section 103(1) (302 IPC) based on a complaint by Jagdish, an orchard owner who had provided accommodation to a Nepali family for work at his shed.
According to police, Jagdish found the rooms locked on the morning of February 28. One room was empty, while Dhani Ram was discovered unconscious in the other. He was declared dead at the scene. Suspicion fell on Suresh, who had been staying there with his family and was reportedly missing.
A forensic team, along with SFSL Junga, examined the crime scene. Police formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT), scanned CCTV footage, and deployed multiple teams to trace the accused. Based on technical and local intelligence inputs, officers located Suresh hiding in Village Sharmathu under Sharmala Panchayat. He was arrested on March 1, 2026.
Preliminary findings suggest that Suresh allegedly murdered Dhani Ram under the influence of alcohol due to an old rivalry, using an agricultural tool.
Additional Superintendent of Police Abhishek confirmed that swift action led to the arrest within 24 hours, and further investigation is ongoing.
