In a major crackdown, the Surat Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) arrested three individuals involved in a racket supplying pre-filled syringes containing mephedrone (MD). The arrests took place on Saturday at a residence in Bhathena, while three other suspects, including a woman, remain at large and have been declared wanted.
A case was filed at Salabatpura Police Station, and further investigations are currently underway.
Acting on a tip-off, the crime branch raided a house in Panchsheel Nagar and apprehended Jamil Khan (43), Taufiq Patel (25), and Rehan Khan (20). The police seized MD worth Rs1.25 lakh, along with 35 insulin syringes and 11 bottles of sterile water, which were used to prepare the injectable drug.
Upon conducting a thorough search of the three-story residence (house number 517), officers found both used and unused syringes, along with 10 ml bottles of sterile injectable water. During questioning, the accused confessed to mixing MD powder with sterile water to prepare readymade syringes, which were then directly supplied to customers.
