Patna police arrested Sunny Kumar, a wanted criminal involved in two robbery cases registered at Barh police station in 2024, from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu on January 31, 2026.
The cases pertain to incidents of dacoity reported in the Dayachak and Noniyabagi areas of Patna, in which unknown persons had targeted victims. Speaking to the media on Thursday, Barh DSP Anand Kumar Singh said that seven other accused in the cases had already been arrested earlier and remanded to judicial custody.
The DSP stated that Sunny Kumar had been evading arrest by frequently changing his location and staying outside Bihar. Acting on secret information, supported by technical surveillance and coordinated efforts between the Barh police station team and the Patna District Intelligence Unit (DIU), a raid was conducted in Tamil Nadu, leading to his arrest.
Police further revealed that the accused has a prior criminal record, with two cases registered at Barh police station and one at Nirsa police station, all related to robbery. Recoveries had already been made earlier in connection with the cases, and further legal action is underway.
