A late-night meeting under the Bopal Vakil Saheb Bridge turned fatal on Tuesday when 25-year-old Shiva Kalasua was stabbed to death over a Rs 2 lakh loan dispute. The Sarkhej Police registered a murder case and arrested two accused.
Shiva, originally from Rajasthan, lived in a rented room near Applewood, South Bopal and worked as a house help. On Tuesday night, he was inside a luxury bus belonging to Suresh Ahari Travels with a female friend when he received a call from a man named Narayan, also known as Rajkumar, asking him to meet.
Shortly after, three people, including Sunil Khokharia, arrived at the spot. They called Shiva out of the bus and began assaulting him. The situation escalated when Sunil allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Shiva multiple times. Shiva tried to flee but collapsed by the roadside and was declared dead on arrival at a nearby private hospital.
Two accused, Sunil Khokharia and Jayesh Verma (Jayesh Balai), were arrested soon after. Police are still tracing the third accused, who is a minor.
Investigations revealed that Sunil had lent Rs 2 lakh to Shiva during Diwali, and the fatal confrontation occurred when Shiva failed to repay the loan. Police confirmed that both the deceased and accused have prior criminal histories:
Sunil Khokharia – caretaker at Medilink Hospital, five cases of assault and robbery registered
Jayesh Verma – cleaner at Palladium Mall, three criminal cases registered
Shiva Kalasua – four cases registered
The Sarkhej police are continuing investigations to trace the minor accused and gather further evidence regarding the murder.
