Police have arrested a key accused in the murder of Sarpanch Harbrinder Singh of Thathian Mahant village, alleging his involvement in facilitating financial transactions linked to the crime.

Senior Superintendent of Police Surinder Lamba stated that Sukhbir Singh, a resident of Verka in Amritsar, was apprehended at Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport while attempting to board a flight to Dubai. He was deboarded before takeoff and taken into custody on Wednesday.

So far, seven accused have been arrested in connection with the case. The two alleged main shooters — Manpreet Singh of Chatiwind, Amritsar, and Gurdev Singh alias Hardev Singh of Khadoor Sahib, Tarn Taran — remain absconding. Police have announced a reward for information leading to their arrest.

The murder occurred at Sidhu Farm, and preliminary investigations suggest that the crime was driven by personal enmity between the deceased and a gangster identified as Satta.

According to the SSP, Sukhbir Singh played a crucial role in transferring funds to those involved in executing the murder. Investigators have identified a financial transaction of Rs 2 lakh linked to the case.

Other arrested individuals include Sharanpreet Singh, Hardeep Singh, Romanpreet Singh, Navjot Singh alias Kalu, Gurpal Singh alias Khushi (all from Chohla Sahib), and Arshdeep Singh of Jalandhar.

Further investigation is ongoing as police continue efforts to apprehend the remaining accused.
