The Town Police of Sundargarh district arrested 54-year-old Sujata Sharma on Friday night in connection with a major fraud case. She is accused of duping five women of approximately Rs 60 lakh through fraudulent schemes.
According to police sources, Sharma allegedly lured the victims with promises of financial gain, collecting large sums of money before disappearing. The complainants reported the fraud to the authorities after realizing the deceit, prompting a swift investigation.
Sundargarh Town Police carried out detailed inquiries and traced the accused, ultimately leading to her arrest. The police have confirmed that further investigation is underway to uncover whether others were involved and to recover the defrauded funds.
Authorities have urged citizens to exercise caution in financial transactions and verify agencies or individuals before investing large amounts.
