FLAT ROCK, Ala. — A man with a violent criminal history is facing numerous charges after being arrested for using the identity of a deceased person and illegally possessing dozens of firearms.
On October 2, 2024, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested Stuart Jeffery Sandrock for possession of controlled substances, specifically methamphetamine and fentanyl. During the arrest, investigators discovered that Sandrock had been using the identity of a deceased male.
Further investigation revealed Sandrock’s true identity and a disturbing criminal background. He had previously been convicted of soliciting to commit murder in San Diego, California, in 1993.
On June 16, 2025, investigators executed a search warrant at Sandrock’s residence on County Road 81 in Flat Rock, Alabama. Inside, they found:
33 firearms, including short-barreled rifles
Suppressors
Thousands of rounds of ammunition
Documents and IDs belonging to the deceased individual Sandrock impersonated
As a result, Sandrock was arrested and formally charged with:
Seven (7) counts of Identity Theft
Obstructing Justice Using False Identity
One (1) count of Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess Firearms
Two (2) counts of Possession of a Short-Barreled Rifle
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.
Sandrock is being held in the Jackson County Jail on a $45,500 bond. Authorities remind the public that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
