Stuart Foster Jailed for Shop Theft Spree in Grantham

50-year-old sentenced for multiple thefts in Grantham

by Amelia Crawford

A 50-year-old man from Grantham has been jailed for 26 weeks after committing a series of shop thefts in the town.

Stuart Foster appeared at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on 29 September, where he pleaded guilty to seven counts of theft. He was also issued a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) that will remain in force until December 2026, and ordered to pay £347.75 in compensation to the affected stores.

Foster targeted multiple shops in Grantham, including:

£100 worth of meat from M&S on London Road on 22 August.

Clothing and confectionery from Sainsbury’s on London Road on 25 August.

Alcohol worth £247.75 from Sainsbury’s on London Road on 10 September.

The CBO restricts Foster from entering most retail premises in Grantham, with the exception of Lidl in Watergate, Boots High Street, Market Place Convenience Store, and Market Place, Grantham. Breaching the order would constitute a criminal offence and could result in further custodial sentences.

Community Beat Manager PC Karl Cinavas said: “Foster is a persistent offender who committed a spate of thefts in Grantham. We will continue working with local businesses to reduce retail theft in the town.”
