Authorities in Morgan County have arrested a Stover man in connection with the shooting death of Beauford Wilson, whose body was found last week with multiple gunshot wounds near Beechnut Road, south of Stover.

According to Sheriff Norman Dills, Chad Armstrong, 50, was taken into custody on Friday after investigators gathered evidence linking him to the homicide.

Investigation Details
Court documents reveal that Wilson was killed at a different location before his body was transported to Beechnut Road in his own truck.

An autopsy performed by the Greene County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Wilson suffered multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the head.

A probable cause statement indicated that Wilson and Armstrong communicated on June 29 about a potential sale of goods. Witnesses told investigators that Armstrong was considering selling his coin collection to Wilson due to financial difficulties.

Additionally, Armstrong allegedly gave inconsistent statements about his whereabouts on June 29 and 30.

Key Evidence
GPS data placed Wilson’s truck at Armstrong’s property.
Security footage from Armstrong’s property recorded multiple gunshots on June 29, contradicting Armstrong’s claim that he heard none.
GPS tracking later placed Wilson’s truck at the location where his body was found.
Charges
Armstrong is facing multiple charges, including:

First-degree murder
Armed criminal action
Authorities continue to investigate the case, and Armstrong remains in custody as he awaits further court proceedings.
