Four police officers from the Special Task Force (STF) in the Central range have been arrested for their suspected involvement in an LSD smuggling operation, officials confirmed Thursday. The accused — head constables Rajesh, Sameer, Nitesh, and constable Ashok Kumar, all stationed in Kullu district — were suspended on March 16.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Abhishek stated, “Networks involved in narcotic smuggling are being dismantled.” The case stems from an FIR filed on March 10 at New Shimla police station under Sections 22 and 29 of the NDPS Act.

Police sources said a special cell team intercepted Sandeep Sharma of Moga, Punjab, and Priya Sharma of Sirmaur near BCS on March 10, recovering 562 LSD strips (11.5 grams). Sandeep revealed he obtained the LSD from Neville Harrison, a resident of Calicut, Kerala, who was later arrested in Gurugram on March 13.

Investigations revealed that Harrison had brought 1,450 LSD strips and 30 grams of MDMA to Bhuntar, Kullu, on March 8. STF personnel reportedly intercepted him near a hotel but did not register a case, keeping the seized drugs themselves, according to ASP Abhishek.

The inquiry further indicated that 616 strips were given to Sandeep Sharma, while the remaining quantities were retained by the accused officers. They are scheduled to appear before a court on Friday. Police say the investigation is ongoing, and further arrests may follow.
