In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police arrested two notorious drug peddlers in a swift operation early this morning.
The raid took place at Room No. 13 in Maa Lodge, located at Last Gate under the Dispur Police Station. Acting on specific intelligence, the STF team launched a surprise raid and arrested two individuals from the scene.
During the operation, officers seized:
9.58 grams of suspected heroin (excluding the soap box)
100 empty vials
Rs. 250 in cash
Two mobile phones
Several personal documents including ATM cards, an Aadhaar card, and a PAN card
The arrested individuals were identified as:
Mohibul Ali (24) – Son of Late Emran Ali, resident of Howly, Ghilajari, under Howly PS, Barpeta district
Nayeb Ali (38) – Son of Md Abdul Kader Ali, resident of Kacharipara Sila, also from Barpeta district
Both are currently in custody as legal procedures and investigations progress.
This operation reflects Assam Police’s intensified crackdown on the drug trade and forms part of its broader mission to eliminate narcotics from the state. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to taking strict action against drug traffickers to protect the safety and well-being of the public.
In a related action yesterday, the STF conducted another raid at Patorkuchi under Basistha Police Station. One individual was arrested and a large quantity of contraband was seized:
82 grams of heroin
362 empty vials
An empty soap box
Cash, a mobile phone, and a vehicle
These continued operations underscore the STF’s proactive strategy in targeting drug supply networks and habitual offenders across Assam.
