Margate, FL — A 33-year-old man was arrested after allegedly injuring his partner during a dispute over her alleged involvement in online phone sex work, according to police.
Sterling Coney of Margate was taken into custody on July 20 by Hollywood Police at his workplace, the Delaware Chicken Farm and Seafood Market. The arrest followed a domestic violence call earlier that day.
Police reports indicate that officers were dispatched to a residence in Margate, where they found a woman with a facial injury. The victim told officers that an argument erupted after Coney confronted her about her use of online phone sex profiles. During the altercation, she said Coney threw a vape device at her, striking her face and causing a laceration and a nosebleed.
The victim also reported that Coney smashed her phone by throwing it to the ground repeatedly before fleeing the scene in an Uber. Despite the phone being damaged, she was able to call 911 using a disconnected device.
Coney was later arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail. He was released after posting a $500 bond.
