Richmond County law enforcement reported several arrests this week involving theft, robbery, and resisting officers.

Stephon De Jan Butler, 25, of Concord, was arrested for allegedly threatening Dollar General staff in Hamlet while attempting a robbery on Feb. 14. Butler reportedly told the clerk he had “people outside that will come in and shoot up the place.” He was charged with one felony count of robbery with a dangerous weapon on Feb. 19 and arrested Feb. 23 by the Hamlet Police Department. Butler is being held without bond at the Richmond County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court March 5.

In a separate case, Jacob Tray McKenzie, 29, of Rockingham, was arrested Feb. 23 for stealing $2,890 worth of garden center items from Walmart in Rockingham. He faces one count of felony larceny and is held on a combined $14,000 secured bond. McKenzie has additional warrants in Moore and Cumberland counties for prior larcenies, including stealing a Dyson vacuum from Target, Nike shoes from Rack Room Shoes, and Milwaukee power tools from Home Depot. He has multiple upcoming court dates in March for these offenses.

Also arrested was Raymond Harvey Ingram, 59, who allegedly committed multiple larcenies from Refuel Store No. 135, Dollar General, and other locations in Rockingham. Ingram was additionally charged with three counts of resisting an officer and second-degree trespassing after fleeing from police during an investigation on Feb. 24. He is being held on a $25,000 secured bond, with court appearances scheduled March 5 and March 13.

These cases highlight the ongoing efforts by Richmond County law enforcement to address theft and violent threats in the community.
