NEW CANEY, Texas — Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office East Command arrested a Houston man following a theft and vehicle pursuit that began at the Ulta Beauty store in the Valley Ranch shopping center.

Around 4:00 p.m., store employees alerted deputies about an ongoing theft, reporting that a male suspect was seen concealing merchandise before fleeing the store in a blue BMW.

Deputies quickly located the suspect’s vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over, leading to a pursuit on U.S. Highway 59. Officers from the Montgomery County Constable’s Office Precinct 4 and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) assisted in the chase.

The pursuit ended safely in the 23000 block of the U.S. 59 feeder road, where DPS Troopers executed a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) to stop the vehicle. The driver, identified as 31-year-old Stephen Price of Houston, was arrested without further incident.

Deputies recovered stolen items from Ulta Beauty as well as additional merchandise linked to other retail thefts in The Woodlands and New Caney.

Price has been charged with Theft and Felony Evading Arrest. The sheriff’s office credited the coordinated efforts of local and state law enforcement for the swift and safe apprehension.
