Stephen Allen Killed in A4 Calcot Crash, Police Appeal

Hunt for Silver Hatchback After Fatal Bath Road Collision

by Amelia Crawford

Thames Valley Police are appealing for help to trace a silver or grey hatchback believed to have witnessed a fatal collision on the A4 Bath Road in Calcot.

The incident occurred shortly before 6:30am on Wednesday, 26 November 2025, when 64-year-old Stephen Allen was struck by at least one vehicle while crossing the road near the Lidl superstore. He sadly died from his injuries.

Following the crash, police arrested two men from Reading. A 41-year-old man was arrested on the day of the incident on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and remains under investigation. A second man, aged 27, was arrested on 2 December on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop. He has since been released on conditional police bail.

Officers are now seeking to identify the driver of a silver or grey hatchback seen in the area at the time of the collision. Police believe the vehicle was not involved in the crash but may have crucial information.

Sergeant Matt Cadmore from the Roads Policing Unit said officers have reviewed CCTV and ANPR footage but have not yet traced the vehicle. He confirmed the car was seen travelling from Burghfield Road and turning left towards Calcot at approximately 6.27am.

Police are urging the driver or anyone who recognises the vehicle to come forward as soon as possible.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Thames Valley Police on 101, quoting reference number 43250602213, or submit details online.
