DESOTO COUNTY, Fla. — A man is facing serious charges in DeSoto County after being caught with more than 15 forms of stolen identification and driving an unregistered vehicle.
Authorities say a DeSoto County Sheriff’s captain stopped a suspicious truck with a Pennsylvania license plate, removed markings, and duct tape covering its registration. Upon inspection, the truck was found to be unregistered.
The driver, identified as Stanley Washington, was found to be in possession of over 15 pieces of personal identification belonging to other individuals. These included credit cards, Social Security numbers, and other sensitive documents — pointing to possible involvement in organized fraud.
Washington was arrested and charged with operating an unregistered motor vehicle and felony possession of five or more personal IDs.
The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office urges the public to always report lost or stolen personal information and deactivate missing credit or debit cards to prevent fraud.
