CAIN, Stanley Fitial, 20, is facing burglary and theft charges following an incident on Dec. 24, 2024, when he allegedly stole a 40-pound propane tank and a gas stove burner from a house.
Fitial was charged with burglary, theft, and contempt for violating court-ordered release conditions from a previous case. He was held in custody by the Department of Corrections and appeared before Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho for a bail hearing on Dec. 29, 2024. Due to a conflict with the Office of the Public Defender, private attorney Joey San Nicolas was appointed to represent Fitial.
The incident began when a homeowner noticed on Dec. 24 that his propane tank and stove burner were missing. Reviewing his surveillance footage, the homeowner saw an individual climbing over the fence and entering his exterior kitchen. The crime was not immediately reported but posted about on Facebook, which led to a tip from a woman who stated that Fitial tried to sell her the stolen items.
Fitial allegedly claimed he did not know the items were stolen, but an investigation contradicted his statement. Surveillance footage showed that Fitial had been involved in transporting and attempting to sell the stolen goods.
Previously, Fitial was involved in other theft-related cases, including the theft of golf carts from Coral Ocean Resort in September 2024 and a separate burglary case in August 2024. Fitial’s next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 6 for a preliminary hearing and Jan. 13 for arraignment.
