WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE) – A West Monroe man, Stanley Amon Vandivere, has been arrested following an armed robbery at Century Next Bank on July 3.
According to the West Monroe Police Department (WMPD), officers responded to a robbery in progress. Witnesses reported that Vandivere approached the bank wearing a clown mask and a blue jumpsuit.
As Vandivere neared the entrance, he encountered a customer exiting the bank. He allegedly pressed a pistol to the customer’s chest and forced him back inside against his will. Once inside, Vandivere pointed the weapon at employees and ordered them not to move. He then demanded money from a bank teller, who handed over two $1,000 currency containers.
Shortly after the robbery, officers located Vandivere near the bank. Upon approach, he attempted to flee, dropping a black backpack. Police secured a search warrant to inspect the bag.
Vandivere was quickly taken into custody and brought to the WMPD Detective Office for further questioning. During interrogation, he reportedly admitted to committing the robbery due to a drug addiction.
He has since been transported to the Ouachita Parish Corrections Center, where he was booked on multiple charges related to the armed robbery.
