SANTA FE, N.M. — Stacy Walker, 50, was arrested on April 8, 2025, following a U-Haul theft and a dramatic police chase involving a New Mexico couple.
The incident unfolded just after 8 a.m., when Santa Fe police responded to reports of a stolen U-Haul with a couple inside. According to authorities, the vehicle theft led to a chase that spanned outside of city limits, before returning to Santa Fe.
The chase ultimately ended near the intersection of Herrera Drive and Cerrillos Road, where Walker’s vehicle was forced to stop, and he was taken into custody without further incident. The couple inside the vehicle was safely released from the storage area where they had been confined.
Walker now faces two counts each of kidnapping, aggravated assault upon a peace officer, and aggravated fleeing from law enforcement. He is being charged by both the Santa Fe Police Department and the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office.
Police used drone surveillance to track Walker’s vehicle after it was spotted near Santa Fe Place Mall, allowing authorities to closely monitor the situation and ensure a safe resolution.
The Santa Fe Police Department praised the successful cooperation between multiple law enforcement agencies, noting that technology, including drones, played a key role in safely apprehending the suspect.
