Stacy Kinsey Arrested for Domestic Violence and Assault on Deputies

Convicted felon charged with kidnapping, assault, and firearm offenses

by Amelia Crawford

Stacy Kinsey, 50, was arrested this morning in Lenoir County, North Carolina, following a violent domestic incident. The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office reports that Kinsey, a convicted felon, was taken into custody after assaulting two deputies during an arrest connected to an alleged domestic violence situation involving a pregnant woman and her children.

Deputies were called to a residence on Tyree Road after Kinsey was reported standing naked outside, threatening to assault the caller and her children. Upon arrival, deputies learned that Kinsey had entered two homes nearby without consent. When deputies attempted to arrest him, Kinsey physically attacked two of them, striking them in the head with closed fists. Fortunately, a Good Samaritan assisted deputies, helping them subdue Kinsey. The injured deputies were treated at the hospital and later released.

Through their investigation, authorities discovered that Kinsey had held the pregnant woman and her children captive, threatening them with a firearm. The woman managed to escape, running to a neighbor for help, but Kinsey continued to search for her by entering multiple homes in the area. Deputies recovered the gun he used during the assault and confirmed that Kinsey had a prior felony conviction, preventing him from legally possessing a firearm.

Kinsey faces numerous charges, including:

First-degree kidnapping (felony)
Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (felony)
Two counts of assaulting law enforcement officers inflicting physical injury (felony)
Three counts of resisting a public officer (misdemeanor)
Domestic violence crime (misdemeanor)
Battery of an unborn child (misdemeanor)
Assault by pointing a gun (misdemeanor)
Breaking and entering (misdemeanor)
Kinsey has been denied bond due to his previous pretrial release, and further charges may be pending. Sheriff Jackie Rogers emphasized his commitment to prosecuting anyone who assaults law enforcement officers to the fullest extent of the law and expressed his gratitude to the Good Samaritan who aided in the arrest.
