St Mary Farmer Ranneil Hoilett Held in 408-Pound Ganja Bust
Ranneil Hoilett, a 28-year-old farmer from St Mary, is in custody following a significant ganja seizure in the Three Hills area of the parish on Wednesday.
The police, responding to a report in the area shortly after 5 p.m., observed a man acting suspiciously. Upon questioning him, further investigation led officers to a nearby house.
Acting Superintendent Anthony Wallace, Head of the St Mary Police Division, explained:
“Upon entering the premises, the team discovered multiple rooms filled with ganja plants hanging from both the walls and ceiling—an apparent operation for drying and processing the illegal substance.”
The ganja weighed 408 pounds and carries an estimated street value of $6,120,000.
In addition to the marijuana, police also seized three motor vehicles, believed to be connected to the illicit operation.
Wallace emphasized the force’s ongoing commitment to targeting drug-related crimes:
“The police remain committed to disrupting the illegal drug trade and ensuring the safety and security of all communities across the island.”
The investigation is ongoing, and Hoilett remains in police custody as further charges are expected.
