Srinivas Arrested for 91 House Break-ins in Bengaluru

Mechanical engineer turned thief to fund online gaming addiction

by Ananya Mehta

The Kodigehalli police have arrested 35-year-old Srinivas, a mechanical engineer from Andhra Pradesh, for his involvement in a series of 91 house break-ins and thefts.

Srinivas, who worked as technical crew in the Andhra cinema industry, was arrested after a thorough investigation that linked him to the theft of a laptop, which he stole to fund his online gaming addiction back in 2008. The thefts reportedly began as a way to support his escalating gambling habit.

The police have since connected him to numerous thefts across Bengaluru, where he used his technical skills to target homes and evade detection for years.

This arrest underscores the growing concerns over how addictions, such as online gaming, can lead individuals into criminal behavior. Authorities have urged people to be cautious and report suspicious activities in their neighborhoods to prevent similar crimes.
